Do you remember your first love? I do:
a mysterious knight brave and genuine, talented albeit humble, hardworking, appreciative of beauty and human virtue as well as kindhearted himself, noble however not interested in official titles.
Seems unreal? He was
In fact, a fiction.
Ascanio was one of my first heroes from the eponymous historical novel by Alexandre Dumas. The book (1843) considered as one of the best historical pieces by the French writer is a tribute to the Autobiography of Benvenuto Cellini (1500-1571), the famous Italian sculptor and jeweler. Ascanio’s character was based on the prototype of Cellini’s young apprentice.
But my story is not about him. The characteristics described above have fascinated me for a reason.
Throughout all my grown-up life I sought these and more of alike virtues in people around me: friends, life and business partners, bosses and subordinates. Not only I looked up to similar merits but I realized the desire to become worthy of my own criteria.
This is probably one of the most valuable
and at the same time one of the most difficult things for a human...
To find-someone and as many as possible from those “someone”s who can and will share your vision towards the future and willing to join you in your mission.
And like when sailing in a certain direction, your crew needs to be aligned not only with the predefined course but also with the general crew spirit, motives. Those who steer the sails need to have trust in the captain and the other way around.
Another thing is how to “attract” those types of people to stick nearby. Well, you could and you should show you’re also the right one but it’s not as easy as it sounds. I know many of the studios have ongoing issues of finding the teams, but most importantly Founders, Entrepreneurs, CEOs.
If I were you, I would also seek a few key characteristics in potential partners for long-term sailing:
Sounds almost like a presidential candidate? Maybe or maybe you have alternate expectations? Guess you know it better, after all, it’s your boat, and your course!
Bon Voyage!!!
